Stopping the SAP Instance(Step to Step)

1. Verify that the SAP instance is up.
2. Log on to the appropriate server as adm.
3. Open the SAP MMC Management Console.
4. Browse the navigation tree of the left by expanding SAP Systems à à . Right-click on the instance name and click Stop.
5. Click on the Syslog entry to view the system log – refresh until you BOTH messages “Communications data: SAP gateway was closed” and “SAP-Basis System: Message server disconnected”.
6. Close SAP MMC Management Console and log off server.

Non-Menu Dependent Method

1. Verify that the SAP instance is up.
2. Log on to the appropriate server as adm.
3. Open a DOS-prompt window.
4. Type in the following, pressing ENTER after you are done:

stopsap name= nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=

5. Close DOS-prompt window and log off server.

As many of you probably know, I finished most of how to stop spam my Christmas shopping a long time ago, organized person that I am. But I never really found the initiative to actually wrap them until a couple of days ago.
